Holiday Let (self-catering accommodation, sleeps up to 4)
Le Moulin de Leymonie is a renovated, 17th century mill offering accommodation in an attached gîte ideal for up to two couples, or a family with older children. There are two comfortable, en-suite double bedrooms.
This gite is self-catering. Facilities include a fully-equipped kitchen with oven, stove top, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. Access to the laundry is provided.
The following are available on request and booked in advance:
- Continental breakfast supplied in a basket: Euro 8 per person.
- An aperitive on arrival, followed by a 3 course meal with wine: Euro 25 per person.
Tea, coffee and milk as well as a high-quality hamper containing everything guests need to make their own first breakfast is supplied. Guests can easily shop in nearby Mussidan (10 minutes’ drive) and cook their evening meal in the kitchen or use the barbecue.
There is a flat screen TV with English channels and free WiFi in the lounge area. Please note: in this rural location WiFi has to be via satellite which can be intermittent.
Guests can also borrow books and board games, or use the four cycles to explore the region. The private, sunny courtyard is ideal for relaxing on sun loungers or barbecuing and dining al fresco. The cottage garden surrounding the old mill is full of birds, roses and wildflowers in season, while the pretty stream, adjoining woodland and paddocks invite rambling exploration.
Host Sylph Baier is a professional potter with three decades’ experience. Guests can view her ceramic works on display in the on-site shop and, once a week, have the opportunity to see a demonstration of her craft.
This charming gîte is well-positioned for self-drive visitors keen to explore the region’s pre-historic caves, wineries, rivers and picturesque towns. Périgueux is 36km away and historic Bergerac is only 29km away. The nearest airport is Bergerac-Roumaniére which is 34km from the property.
Please note 1: The staircases in the mill leading to the first floor bedrooms are steep and unsuitable for people with walking difficulties and small children and toddlers. We also have uneven flagstones on the entrance of the property which date from the 17th century and access to all parts of the property is at visitors own risk.
Please note 2: Our animals and wildlife. We have sheep, chickens, a dog and a cat. As we are in the middle of the countryside we also have a diverse range of small wildlife visitors including birds, lizards, insects, small mammals, frogs and salamander near the river. We hope you are happy to share our Moulin with these creatures.
Please note 3: We follow permaculture principles and try to live sustainably by conserving water and electricity, growing our own food, and recycling as much as we can. We ask you to support us in this endeavour.
